Overview

Certain hosting & participant functions are only available when logged into your Rider Zoom account via the client.  For example, if you experience the issue of your name reverting back to a default device name, or hosting controls are not accessible (even though you scheduled the meeting), it is most likely due to the fact you are not actually logged into Zoom.  In addition, if a host requires meeting registration or domain authentication, participants would be required to login before joining a meeting.

In this guide, we will review how to login to the Zoom desktop client on your Mac or PC.  Similar steps can be followed when logging into your iOS or Android mobile devices.

Step 1 — Download the Zoom Client Application

You must first have the Zoom client installed on your Windows or macOS device.  For instructors on how to download Zoom, please visit their support website.

Step 2 — Login to the Client

Once the application has been downloaded & installed onto your computer, we must now login with "SSO" or Single Sign-On.  This will require your RIDER KEY credentials (the same login for Canvas and myRider).

  1. Open Zoom
  2. Click on the "Sign In" button [1].

  3. On the right-hand side pane, select "Sign In with SSO" [2].

  4. When prompted for your company domain, type in rider so the full domain becomes rider.zoom.us as show in the screenshot below [3].

  5. You should then be automatically taken to the Rider SSO sign in page as seen in the screenshot below.  Input your Username [4] and Password [5].  Remember, your Username should not include "@rider.edu".

  6. Upon successful login, you should be automatically redirected back into the Zoom client.  Confirm you are logged in my clicking on your profile picture or initials in the top right-hand corner of the screen [6].

Additional Notes:

  • You will need to complete these steps for all devices you use to access Zoom.  Logging into the client may be required upon application updates.
  • If you cannot login to Zoom during step 5, please contact the OIT Helpdesk.
