About the University telephone system

On December 18th 2020, Rider replaced our 20 year old phone system with a new, cloud-based Voice Over IP (VOIP) system.

 

This new system offers new functionality that is particularly useful to employees that are working remotely during the Pandemic.

 

 

 


Telephone sets.
Most users will be provided with a Mitel 6920 IP Phone.

  • Full-duplex speakerphone
  • 18 programmable keys
  • Searchable University phone directory


Voicemail system

Staff and Faculty are assigned a voicemail box that will need to be set up. When you login for the first time, a guided tutorial will help you set up your new voicemail box, including setting a new pin # and recording your greetings.
 

Teleworker functionality

The system provides employees with several features that make working from home easier.

  • Voicemail to email 
  • Phone “twinning” ( have your home or cell phone ring if someone calls your on-campus extension)
  • Desktop or Web client for accessing voicemail messages, creating personal address books, key programming, availability settings and scheduling
  • Bring your phone home*
  • Optional (at cost) Desktop, Web based or mobile  softphone **
