Banner XE Browser Compatibilities

Banner XE works with IE, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, although it may depend on the version of the browser being used.

Per Ellucian's documentation, the following browsers are supported:

  • Internet Explorer 7, 8 on Windows - Not Supported
  • Internet Explorer 9, 10 on Windows - Support ends Dec 2016
  • Internet Explorer 11 on Windows - Supported for all Ellucian products except Luminis 4
  • Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 - Supported for all Ellucian products except for Banner 8x INB and possibly Banner8x SSB (dependent on WebLogic 12c)
  • Firefox on Windows and Mac OS - Supported for all Ellucian products
  • Chrome on Windows - Supported for all Ellucian products
  • Safari on Mac OS - Supported for all Ellucian products


Note: Browsers such as Chrome and Firefox release updates on such a frequent basis that as many as 12-20 browser versions are released in a 12 month period. For these browsers, Ellucian may institute a "one back" support policy where Ellucian will support the current version and at least one version prior.


Degree Works 4.1.3 and 4.1.4

  • Student Educational Planner (SEP) does not work with IE9.
  • SEP works with IE10 and IE11 if you turn off Compatibility Mode. You may have to clear cache after turning off Compatibility Mode.
    • o To disable Compatibility Mode in Internet Explorer as well as check to verify that it is disabled, please pull up "Tools" and then "Compatibility View Settings".
    • o You need to have both "Display all websites in Compatibility View" and "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View" unchecked.
    • o You will also want to clear out "Websites you've added to Compatibility View" .
  • Degree Works hangs when using Safari 7, but upgrading to Safari 7.1 resolves the issue.


Degree Works 4.1.5

  • SEP has been tested with Edge (the new Windows 10 web browser). No significant issues were observed. Did not find any issues related to Firefox or Chrome.
